From Asbestos Removal to New Roofs, The Gunni Glow-Up is Finally Complete!
The One Where She Grows Lots of Gray Hair...
The DADU at Gunnison became a complicated project out of the gate. Would I still call it a success? Yes. A quick glimpse into the hurdles we eventually overcame.
Hurdle one | Shortly after beginning demo on the garage, we discovered asbestos siding which required testing and certified removal and disposal. An immediate +2-3 weeks to the timeline.
Hurdle two | Months into the renovation, we were also still waiting for the city's approval of the new electrical service to the garage. Even after the remodel was fully complete, we were STILL waiting for the city's approval. This was undoubtedly the most nerve-wracking part, which added about six weeks of unexpected hold time.
Hurdle three | Then, we're under contract, but the inspection report indicates the roof of the main house is 'nearing the end of it's life' (albeit no leaks, no issues), so the buyer negotiates a new roof for the main house. Cha-Ching!
The design still lands right from early inspiration collages to reality. Scroll to the end for the final stats.
